The Series 1928 is the first release of the small size Federal Reserve Notes (FRN) with a green Treasury Seal and Serial Numbers. The "Numeric" name comes from the Federal Reserve Seal that contained the Federal Reserve Bank Numeric Code; 1-Boston, 2-New York, etc. for all 12 Federal Reserve Banks. The Numeric was only used for Series 1928 and 1928A bank notes. But not all denominations. The "Numeric" denominations were produced and issued in $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 FRNs. The $500, $1,000, $5,000 and $10,000 FRNs were issued after the "Alpha" change was made to the Federal Reserve District seal. (See 1928A Alpha FRNs)
