Why World Bank Notes? Since 2020 I’ve collected contemporary world banknotes that represent: • The equivalent exchange rate to the U.S. dollar or • The lowest paper currency denomination that a monetary authority issues. (Many countries issue coins of 5 denominations or less.)
Currently I’m tracking 176 different countries or monetary authorities that issue banknotes. About once a month I check to see if there’s been a new banknote issued or the currency exchange has changed drastically requiring a new banknote. For me it's interesting to see what all the currency of the world looks like for each country. I began by working the collection one continent at a time beginning with North America. NOTE: If you're looking for a country that is not listed it probably does not, or no longer, issues paper currency such as the countries of the European Union - which is a monetary authority that uses the Euro.
